Having a healthy and thorough discussion surrounding LGBTQ+ matters is an important step that the global church needs to make in order to foster healing in this very vibrant and indispensable community. Bad theology and misunderstandings about orientation have contributed to the pain, shunning, and suicidal rate-amongst other things from those who openly or inwardly identify as LGBTQ+.
It stands to say that we in fact do have a home in the kingdom of God and just as we are. If you identify as LGBTQ+ and are comfortable with sharing publicly, I would consider it a great privilege to listen to your story of how you got to where you are today.
At what age were you when you realized that something was different about your orientation? Have you been able to come out to friends and family? If so, how challenging was that for you? In what was have you had to "deconstruct" what you have been taught about how God feels about homosexuals? What has helped you in your "reconstruction"? What would you tell your self 5 or 10 years ago?
